(Updated) Two men, who were undergoing drug rehabilitation, were hacked to death by a fellow patient, who later committed suicide, inside an apartment they were renting in Barangay Cansojong, Talisay City, at dawn Thursday.

Thomas Woodruff, 24, from Argao, Cebu; Ervyn Ian Enilo, 28, from Barangay Punta Princesa, Cebu City; and Archie Abastillas, 28, were already dead when police found them inside their rented apartment in Providence Street, Sitio Uldog in Barangay Cansojong at 12:30 a.m. Thursday, April 19.

A fourth companion, Lendon Carpeso, 24, survived the hacking by jumping to their neighbor's house.

The four were reportedly recovering drug addicts who were renting a house in Barangay Cansojong to undergo residential rehabilitation, said Superintendent Marlu Conag, acting Talisay City police chief.

Based on police initial investigation, Abastillas reportedly hacked the victims after arguing over a 10 p.m. curfew in their boarding house.

It was Carpeso who told police that Abastillas was the one who stabbed him and hacked his two companions when they were already sleeping.

Abastillas reportedly used a chopping cleaver to kill his companions.

After killing Woodruff and Enilo, Abastillas then killed himself by slashing his left wrist.

Conag said they will have to determine the government facility they originally received treatment.
