Police officer Mark Mercano, who is presently detailed at a police outpost in Hacienda Velez-Malaga in Barangay Robles, La Castellana town, was caught in act by his legal wife, Police Officer Tricia Lorraine Pico-Mercano, allegedly living in with a certain Nina Sarabia in Barangay Zone III in Cadiz City.
Sarabia, according to report, is also married to a seaman who is now abroad.
The case got likened to the "Sex in the barracks" controversy, where those involved were a policeman and a seaman's wife.
According to Cadiz City police desk officer Remando Flores, the policewoman-wife sought their assistance to apprehend her policeman-husband on October 7.
First, they were hesitant but the wife insisted.
Flores said they arrested Mercano living in with Sarabia in a rented house.
During the arrest, the policeman-suspect attempted to resist and tried to stab his wife with a broken window blade. Responding policemen stopped him.
In an interview, the wife said her husband has already so many "women" victimized.
She disclosed that one policewoman at the Bacolod City Police Office was also linked with her husband and he even got pregnant this lady cop.
"Wherever my husband is assigned, I always catch him with another woman," Tricia said.
Tricia will be filing a case against her husband and his alleged paramour.
Negros Provincial Police Office (NOPPO) Director Rosendo Franco, meanwhile, stressed that as of Monday, his office has not received any complaint regarding the alleged immorality committed by Mercano.
But Franco explained that his office will have jurisdiction upon receipt of formal complaints.
Franco said the complaints will be administrative in nature as the police have rules governing the morality of members.
Franco appealed, however, for understanding on the part of media, saying "policemen have children and families who could be hurt. As human beings, policemen are capable of being hurt as well."
