Top labor authorities in 15th national meet
PROMINENT government officials and leading national and International Labor Management Council authorities are attending the 15th National Labor Management Convention at the Hotel Supreme here, which started last Wednesday.
The three-day convention, with the theme "LMC: Working together for a better Philippines", focuses on enhancing business competitiveness of the workforce and the workplace to face the challenges of global market, hence contributing to the progress of the country.
The convention, led by Philippine Association of Labor Management Council (PalmCo) president Jesus Beltran and National Convention chairperson Jovito Matias, is a tripartite affair designed to work for the professionalization and accreditation of LMC management as a major function in corporate management and as an essential tool in sustaining a workplace-based industrial peace.
The state, organizers said, is being clamored by foreign investors.
Other key personalities invited to speak on various aspects during the convention are Trade Undersecretary Federico Luchico Jr; former UP-Solair dean Jose Gatchalian; Labor National Conciliation and Mediation Board Executive Director Hans Leo Cacdac; and Trade Center for Industrial Competitiveness Executive Director Virgilio Fulgencio.
UP-Solair dean Jorge Sibal and professor Virgel Binghay; Yazaki-Torres Manufacturing president Feliciano Torres; Meralco president Alejandro Teves Escano and Trade Union Congress of the Philippines vice president Ariel Castro are also expected to attend the convention.
Likewise, Federation of Free Workers vice president Antonio Asper; Philippine League of LMC Practitioners president Cecilia Real; Southern Tagalog Labor-Management Cooperation Practitioners president Jose Molina would also speak at the convention, along with Laguna Labor-Management Cooperation Council president Eduardo Nicolas; Sta. Rosa City Laguna Business Club president Rommel Gutierrez; Labor Regional Director for Metro Manila Rebecca Chato; Press Undersecretary Robert Rivera; and Enchanted Kingdom chairperson and president Mario Mamon.
PalmCo has also invited International Labor Organization Regional Director for Asia and the Pacific Linda Wirth to talk on the threats and prospects in the workplace.
PalmCo, the country's foremost exponent of the LMC management and advocacy, upholds the principle that professional LMC program and practitioners are key factors in maintaining industrial peace in the country.
The tripartite convention aims to address the concerns regarding industrial peace vis-a-vis the issue on a strike-free Philippines.
PalmCo would also be showcasing the best LMC strategies, interventions and newly emerging trends in labor-management partnerships that are practiced in companies like the Inspire Leadership Consultancy, Enchanted Kingdom, Philex Mining Corp., FVC Philippines, Toyota Motors Corporation, Baguio Country Club, Ishida Philippines, Yokohama Rubber and Isuzu Motors.
