Palarong Pambarangay winners feted Saturday
By Ernie N. Olson Jr.

THE winners in the city's Palarong Pambarangay 2008 will be honored during the Barangay Day awards ceremony at the Baguio City National High School auditorium on May 17.

This was disclosed on Tuesday by Interior and Local Government City Director Evelyn Trinidad, who said "the occasion will be graced by the Liga ng mga Barangay national president Ricojudge Jan Vier Malabanan Echiverri, who was invited as the guest of honor and keynote speaker."

She said the program will be highlighted by the oath-taking of the officers of the various organizations under the Liga like the Associations of Barangay Tanods, Association of Barangay Kagawads, and Lupon of the City of Baguio, which will also be administered by Echiverri.

Association of Barangay Councils president and Councilor Joel Alangsab, who led the Palarong Pambarangay kick-off parade last April 12, said these games "aim to cement relationships between and among barangay officials, heal the wounds, and mend the broken spirits and ravaged hearts brought about by politics."

Alangsab said it is high time the city's barangay officials unite and strengthen camaraderie towards the development of all barangays here.

After the kick-off parade last April 12, an opening program, highlighted by the lighting of the torch to signal the opening of the inter-barangay sports festival was conducted.

Baguio Representative Mauricio Domogan joined the barangays as he delivered his inspirational message.

Alangsab was joined by his board of director.
