Thursday, July 24, 2008 Cabbie robbed, stabbed By Ernie N. Olson Jr.
FOR the first time in the history of Baguio, a gang led by a woman robbed a taxicab driver and at the same time stabbed him before they all fled with the victim’s earnings.
The driver was identified as Nemesio Pulagan Nabunat, 26, of Kadaklan Village, Apugan, Loakan.
According to Nabunat, he was driving his Toyota Tamaraw FX taxi bearing license plate AYH-643 at Purok 6 of Kias when he was flagged down by three persons posing as passengers at 1:45 a.m. Tuesday.
He said that after his two male passengers boarded and sat at the back and the female passenger sat in the front passenger seat, they instructed him to ferry them to Kadaklan Village.
However, upon arrival at the destination, one of the men pulled out a handgun and poked at him and announced the heist. The female passenger, armed with a fan knife, ordered the victim to hand over his earnings and other personal valuables.
But, when the driver told her that he had no cellular phone, the woman got irritated and stabbed him repeatedly.
The thieves fled with Nabunat’s P3,000 in cash.
Despite injured, the victim was able to go to the Baguio General Hospital where he was treated for several stab wounds.
