Family stages escape from massacre attempt By Inday S. Emeterio
VALENCIA CITY -- A family managed to escape being summarily executed by 15 unidentified armed men who sprayed gunfire and torched their house the other day.
The family included 48-year-old Saturnino Autor, his wife 44-year old Corazon Autor, and their four children, all residing in Purok 7, San Carlos, Valencia City, Bukidnon.
Valencia City police said the armed men carried long and short firearms and arrived at the home of the victims at 11 p.m.
The elder Saturnino managed to spot their arrival after hearing footsteps around their home. He woke up his family and slowly got out of the house and waited at the cliffs near their home.
They later heard gunshots aimed at their home and the couple and their children sustained gunshot wounds once they got off the cliffs.
Valencia city police headed by Superintendent Ferdinand R. Bartolome arrived and recovered from the scene 15 shells from a .45 pistol, 9mm gun and carbine firearms.
The police had yet to determine the motive behind the shootings. The Autor couple said they had no known enemies in their area.
