THE Museo de Oro of Xavier University-Ateneo de Cagayan launched its three-day celebration of "National Museum Month" this October with a book launching and a forum on the history of Mindanao last Monday.
Museum curator and director Dr. Erlinda Burton said the book called "Go 10! A Travel Guide and Tourism Directory Around Region 10" is intended to inform both city residents, natives and visitors about the city's history and rich cultural heritage.
"What we want to impart to the Cagay-anon people is how Cagayan was back then," Dr. Burton explained to Sun.Star Cagayan de Oro.
Meanwhile, the three-day celebration done in partnership with the Tourmakers Philippines Inc. ends Wednesday with a tour on Cagayan de Oro's historical sites and a cultural show said to be held at the museum venue.
Aside from the book launching, a forum on the history of Mindanao was held at Xavier University's audio-visual room 1 with Atty. Canoy last Monday.
Yesterday, the museum was scheduled to host 20 less privileged schoolchildren from Barangay Macabalan on a tour of its premises.
Dr. Burton said the museum has turned 40 years old last August 27 and is always open to city residents who want to learn more about the City of Golden Friendship.
"Since the museum is a private property owned by Xavier University there is an entrance fee of P20 for adults; P10 for high school and college students and P5 for elementary pupils," Dr. Burton said.
