Wednesday, May 14, 2008 City hospital to acquire new equipment
WHILE upgrading of the services of the JR Borja General Hospital continues, the City Council adopted a resolution requesting Sen. Juan Miguel Zubiri to allocate P14 million from his Priority Development Assistance Fund for the Adult and Pediatric Intensive Care Unit facilities of the hospital.
The resolution was favorably endorsed by the committees on health and social services and on laws and rules chaired by Councilors Dante Pajo and Ramon Tabor in response to the request of Dr. Dures Tagayuna, officer-in-charge of the city government-run hospital.
The amount will be used to purchase necessary equipment such as pulse oxi meters, patient monitor, cardiac defibrillator with ECG, patient beds for adults and children, among others.
Tagayuma said this will enable the hospital to serve patients needing intensive care.
The move comes even as the hospital is preparing to provide tertiary health services to the constituents at par with other private hospitals in the city. (PR)
