Holcim Phils. supports Rody Pasko sportsfest

HOLCIM Philippines, the leading cement company in the industry, is chipping in for Mayor Rodrigo Duterte's "Pahalipay sa Pasko Sportsfest" by bankrolling the youth football tournament.

The support is part of its commitment to building foundations for society's future aside from providing quality products and services, and opportunities for the sustainable development of communities.

The bootfest starts at 9 a.m. on Saturday, Dec.9, at the Tionko field beside Agro College. Expected to grace the opening ceremony are top officials from Holcim led by Roger Cervo, Davao Football Association headed by Gerry Romero-Salas and Davao City Sports Coordinator Christopher "Bong" Go.

"We wish to thank Holcim Philippines for its contribution to sports development," Go said of Holcim, one of the world's leading suppliers of cement, aggregates, concrete and construction-related services.

The DFA also lauded the company for showing concern to the youth in Davao.

"We really do not know how we can thank them," secretary general Erwin Protaci said.

Protacio has been deeply involved in youth tournaments for years and even conducted a study on football development on children ranging from six to 12 years old.

The SDD is funding other events like chess, dama, billiards, darts, badminton, swimming, tennis, taekwondo, volleyball, softball, cycling, sepak takraw, table tennis, athletics, among others.
