Sara bucks publicity for upcoming wedding

VICE Mayor Sara Z. Duterte bucked publicity anew and appealed to the media to refrain from broadcasting or printing details of the wedding, pointing out that "my other half to this marriage is a very private person."

In a press statement emailed to this paper's editor Monday, the young Duterte said: "We would deeply appreciate your support and consider it as your special gift for our special day."

She said they do not want to invite attention to the wedding adding that while she may be a public personality, her wedding "does not concern public welfare and interest."

"Hence, I would like to request the distinguished members of the mass media not to print or broadcast the details of the wedding, no matter how you came by it or who revealed the information," she write.

She assured that the media that an official photo will be released after the wedding.

She added that once married, she would continue to use her maiden name.
This is not the first time Duterte bucked fanfare.

Months before the May 14 elections, she sent Sun.Star an emailed appeal to the media to stop speculating on whether she will indeed be running for office or not as she has not yet made a decision and that making such a decision was not easy.

In that email, she rued how the speculations about her possible political plan was being run like a popularity contest and asked that she be allowed to make the decision by herself in private.
