Tuesday, October 16, 2007 UM tankers emerge champion in swim competition
THE University of Mindanao (UM) emerged over-all champion after bagging a total of 23 gold medals, 16 silvers, and eight bronzes in the 6th Davao City Inter-School Age-Group Swimming Competition at the Ladislawa Country Club over the weekend.
UM topped the college event of the event sanctioned by the Philippine Amateur Swimming Association (Pasa).
The Ateneo de Davao University (AdDU), which clinched two titles, took the runner-up honors with 21 golds, 25 silvers and 21 bronzes.
The Notre Dame of Dadiangas University copped seven golds, one silver, and three bronzes for third place.
Philippine Sports Commissioner Leon Gonzalo "Binggoy" Montemayor was guest speaker during the opening rites. He also officiated the ceremonial dive.
PSC and DCSA jointly sponsored the competition. (MLSA)
