Damosa Land turns 60
By Carlo P. Mallo

IT HAS been 60 years since Don Antonio Floirendo Sr. put up Davao Motor Sales in Davao City, bringing in the first fleet of Ford vehicles, in April of 1948.

But now, Davao Motor Sales, which is more commonly known for its abbreviation, Damosa, has ventured out into different industries. It has grown and expanded into the stronghold that it is today.

Now officially called the Damosa Land Incorporation, it is considered as one of the formidable forces in the robust real estate industry in Davao City today.

And for that, the 60th anniversary of Damosa Land Incorporation was made a spectacular one. In full attendance were the founders and movers of the company, the stakeholders, and of course, the employees of the company.

"The 60th anniversary is traditionally referred to as the Diamond Jubilee, and just like a diamond, Damosa Land Incorporation was hardened by fire and trials during its growth. There were many difficulties encountered by my father when he was first starting the out," Tony Boy R. Floirendo, vice chair of the Anflocor Group of Companies, said in his speech during the 60th anniversary celebration last Monday.

"That you are the reason we are here today. This event is for all of you who have made the past 60 years possible. And instead of honoring our family, I would like to also say that the Floirendo's are honored by your service and loyalty. We would be nothing without you, and we are very grateful," the young Floirendo added.

"We are very happy that Damosa Land Incorporation continues to prosper in the business arena of Davao City. Engaging ourselves in numerous projects is made so we could contribute more to the city's development and create worthwhile services that will benefit the Dabawenyos," he added.

Damosa Land Incorporation is part of the Anflocor Group of Companies.

During the 60th anniversary celebration, Damosa Land Incorporation also unveiled its three major projects for 2008: the Ayala Center-Davao in Bajada, Davao City, the Damosa Resort in Limao, Samal Island, and the Mindanao Jockey and Country Club in Marapangi Toril.
