Reports said the armed groups of Minalang and Tabunaway families crossed paths in barangay Upper Laquitan, Datu Blah resulting to an exchange of gunfire.

The gunfire lasted for 30 minutes and ceased only after the arrival of peacekeeping forces from the military and police. The Minalang and Tabunaway families bear personal grudges due to political rivalry and land dispute.

Several residents in the area have fled their homes for fear of their lives.

Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao Governor Datu Zaldy Ampatuan has sent representatives to resolve the feud between the two groups. (Edgardo Fuerzas)
