Maranga said the conference will be held at the Royal Mandaya Hotel with this year's theme: Mindanao TVET: Beyond Borders, Meeting the Challenges of Change.

The extent and nature of critical skills requirement in Mindanao and the global areas will be explained.

Participants will be taught on how to cope and respond to challenges with the growth and spread of the knowledge economy.

They will also share and exchange information, concepts and the best practices in business.

Linkages with supportive agencies and organizations for future action and collaboration will also be encouraged.

The conference's highlights are plenary sessions, discussions of issues, site visits to selected technical and vocational institutions and industries.

The conference will be held back to back with the Mindanao Travel and Tourism Expo (MTTE) 2008 on August 8 to 10 at the SM City Davao.

The MTTE 2008 will bring together the TVET academe, schools and training centers, local government units, labor and business community.

It will feature exhibits, tour packages, and learning sessions on tourism school standards, tour guiding, marketing and promotion of hotels and resorts, international hospitality, and opportunities in wellness tourism. (JGRS)<>/b>
