THE Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF) attacked two army detachments in North Cotabato Tuesday in time for the visit of President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo in Mindanao.
The Eastern Mindanao Command of the Armed Forces of the Philippines reported that two military detachments were simultaneously attacked by about 50 MILF rebels in Aleosan and Pikit towns in North Cotabato.
The attacks happened at 4 p.m.
Earlier that same day, a militia outpost was also harassed by MILF members in Sitio New Valencia, Barangay Bualan also in Pikit.
In the three MILF attacks, the military took the defensive stance. They were able to secure the communities where the attacks occurred.
President Arroyo visited Makilala in North Cotabato and Cotabato City Tuesday and was in Shariff Kabunsuan Wednesday.
