Rotarians in Tagum for membership gab

ALL roads lead to the boom city of Tagum, in Davao del Norte, during the membership development seminar of Rotary International to take place at that city's Molave Hotel Saturday.

Expected to attend are officers and members of close to 50 Rotary clubs in various parts of Mindanao under RI District 3860 headed by District Governor Billy Parilla.

Parilla said membership development is one of the top challenges hurled by RI President Dong Kurn Lee in his Presidential Citation this Rotary Year under the theme "Makes Dream Real."

"Each new Rotarian we bring into our clubs helps to make dreams real," Parilla quoted President Dong as saying.

According to past president Jim Osorio of the hosting Rotary Club of Tagum North, inducting new quality members - membership development in general - is given emphasis because the more hands joined together in Rotary, the better service the international movement can render.

RI now has 1,225,046 members in 39,907 Rotary clubs rendering various kinds of charitable services worldwide.

PDG (Past district governor) Dave Villanueva, RI coordinator for membership development for Zone 7, will kneynote today's seminar, PP Osorio said.

Officers, especially newly inducted members, of Davao area's more than 20 Rotary clubs are expected to swell the number of participants of the seminar.

President Leo Edwin Zantua of the Rotary Club of East Davao, District 3860's biggest among more than 100 clubs, promised to send more than a dozen participants to Tagum led by no less than the club's four past district governors "Boy" Reyes, Totoy Cabarroguis, Hermie Villano, and Raoul Hilario.
