Sunday, March 02, 2008 Local health zone tackles medtech issue By Edmund B. Sestoso
THE Metropolitan Inter Local Health Zone will tackle the absence and pull out of some medical technologists in the towns affecting the delivery of health services in the respective localities.
Dr. Fidencio Aurelia, chairperson of inter local health zone was tasked by Governor Emilio Macias II to come up with recommendations in resolving the problem.
The move came after Amlan Mayor Bentham De La Cruz wrote to Governor Macias about his predicament relative to the hiring of medical technologist assigned at his municipal health office.
The Amlan mayor was surprised of the sudden move of Capitol officials because according to him, during the term of then Governor George Arnaiz funding assistance was provided through the inter local health zone for the hiring of medical technologist.
The funds however had been used up leaving his town with no medical technologist.
The mayor appealed to Macias to provide funding assistance for the continued hiring of the medical technologist.
The mayor also recommended Ana Lee S. Mercado to be appointed by Capitol to work as med tech in his town.
Dr. Aurelia believes in the networking of a health system and is glad to be of help by helping come up with a solution to the issue.
Mayor De La Cruz on the other hand is also one of the members of the Board of Directors of the Metropolitan Inter Local Health Zone.
