4 Coast Guard members nabbed in bar rumble
By Ruby P. Silubrico

FOUR members of the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) are facing charges in being involved with a rumble inside a KTV bar Tuesday night at Fort San Pedro, Iloilo City.

Facing charges are Eric John Dela Cruz, Arnold Galleron, Emmanuel Pascual, Buenvinido Cubol, all of Zamboanga City.

The four are stationed at BRP Edsa II.

Police reports showed that the four Coast Guard members were inside the Vic-Vic KTV around 11:30 p.m. for a drinking session when they clashed with complainants Ross John Villete, an employee of a bottling company, and security guard Daniel Confesor.

Villete and Confesor were also having a drinking spree.

Reports said Cubol started the fight by confronting Villeta, whom he alleged was annoyed with their group.

When Villeta answered back, Cubol and his three other companions mauled Villeta while on his way to the comfort room.

Confesor allegedly tried to pacify Pascual but the latter struck him on the head using a bottle.

Witnesses said the Coast Guard members got irked of Villeta because a guest relations officer who used to entertain them was with Villeta when the incident happened.

On the other hand, the Coast Guard members said Villeta was the one who initiated the fight by hitting one of them.

Marivic Haguisan, owner of the KTV Bar, testified that the Coast Guard members were the ones who started the melee.
