Ogie to host ‘Da Big Show’

SINGER-composer Ogie Alcasid, known to be a little man (literally) in the entertainment industry, will soon be playing a big role as a ringleader in GMA network’s newest noontime game show entitled “Da Big Show”.

A press release said the concept is like a modern-day version of Philippine children games such as Tumbang Preso, Patintero, Piko and Labanan ng Gagamba all in one game show with a little twist as all elements in the show is “giganticized”.

As for the mechanics of the game: it would start with four teams, composed of three members each. They will compete in a series of games with the objective of being the last team standing. The three members of each team will be wearing giant rubber slipper costumes to be able to stop a giant can like in Tumbang Preso.

Meanwhile, in other games, a representative from the two teams dressed as suspended gigantic spiders will be trying to push each other off a platform which is 20 feet above the ground. There is also a part where the opposing teams will try to lift 30-pound concrete balls for the giant sungka game.

The biggest challenge of the game show is to break a giant palayok (clay pot) for the winning team to be able to take home the jackpot prize. If the palayok is not smashed, the pot money will be added to following day’s jackpot.

The press release added that the players will be cheered by 20 cheering squad members and six plus-sized, pretty maidens dubbed “Da Big Girls”.

Ogie will also have referees that would act as bodyguard of the host, namely, More and Less. “Da Big Show” will be aired Mondays through Fridays starting Monday before Eat Bulaga. (JRDB/Sunnex)
