THE Zamboanga Basketball League (ZBL), an affiliate of the Basketball Association of the Philippines (BAP), is holding a tournament dubbed as the 1st Zamboanga Basketball Fanatics Cup 2008 in this city.
ZBL Vice-President Albi Musa said the tournament reels-off on March 15 and all the games will be held at the Golden Boys Basketball Gymnasium along Nuñez Extension.
The tournament will have the following divisions: Platinum Master Division (mixed 50 years old up); Golden Master Division (40 years old and above); Silver Master Division (30 years old and up); Junior Division (20 and up); Senior Division Open and Junior Division Open (20 years old and below).
Musa said the champion in each of the six divisions will receive P10,000 cash prize plus trophy while the first runner-up, P5,000 cash and trophy and second runner-up, P3,000 and a trophy.
He said the target participants are from the villages, schools, commercial, government offices, and non-government organizations.
The tournament aimed to discover new breed of talents in the sports of basketball.
