Life and a Rubik’s cube Carmel Loise Matus
IT’S funny how life can be so unfair. There are those who are needy, who have nothing and there are those who have a lot but have taken for granted everything they have...
Ironic isn’t it?
The funny thing is, for those people who have a lot, they’re really wanting to have more. But for those people who have nothing, they’re even contented with what they have. Big things make people who have a lot more happy and for those who have nothing, they’re just content with what little they have.
The Rubik’s cube is a trademark for a puzzle that is a cube composed of smaller rotating colored cubes, the aim being to rotate them to make each of the large cube’s faces a uniform color. This is a sure puzzle I can never finish even in a week!
To me it would be a hunk of junk and a waste of time but for those two boys that I’ve seen playing with it? It’s their way of showing that Rubik’s cube is a “one hell of a game”!
Being on the streets on a cold and rainy Tuesday night was quite a struggle. I was with my mama at that time. We were on our way to a bank to get some money and that was when I saw those two boys. They’re aged between 7 and 10, I think. I was struck by that moment that I couldn’t get it out of my mind!
Two young boys, playing the Rubik’s cube, ignoring the bad weather and simply sitting down on a carton and spending their precious time trying to figure out on how to complete the puzzle! It seemed liked time froze at that moment and there have been flashbacks of memories I once had. The times through which I was always complaining about what I had and didn’t have. Complaining, complaining and complaining and not being content with the things I have! Then I thought of those two young boys and I just realized how a simple Rubik’s cube amused them in that cold and rainy night.
I wish I could be happy with a Rubik’s cube! Like those two boys I’ve seen playing with it! Like them who were just content sitting in one corner of the bank and playing with a Rubik’s cube on a rainy and cold night.
