HE MAY have gotten into people’s radar by portraying the bully (and eventual victim) Chuck Santos in first Filipino Netflix Original film “Dead Kids,” but Markus Paterson is poised to let the world know more about his other passion—singing—as he dropped his latest single “Best Wishes” right after Christmas.

Deviating from his usual upbeat and electronic sound, “Best Wishes” is a stripped down song that highlights Markus’ mesmerizing vocals and raw emotions. Produced under Tarsier Records, it presents a vulnerable and honest demonstration of one’s attempt to find light in the thick of moving on from a painful breakup.

Some lucky fans were able to listen to the song before it officially dropped using a secret link that Markus sent to them through direct message on Twitter.

“Best Wishes” is the lead single from the musician’s upcoming “B-Side” EP, a collection of original acoustic songs that he wrote on guitar—arranged, produced, mixed and mastered by Tarsier producer and founder Moophs. Since 2017 though, Markus has released multiple singles under the label including “WIWU,” “EASE,” “Tell Me,” and “Beautiful,” which he recorded with Inigo Pascual and Moophs featuring Kyler.

The actor-singer started in the industry as a contestant in the reality talent competition “Pinoy Boyband Superstar” in 2016. Aside from “Dead Kids,” he has also starred on “Ang Babaeng Allergic sa WiFi” last year. He is part of the distinctive lineup of artists under Tarsier Records, a record label committed to showcasing the uniqueness of Filipino talents here and abroad. (PR)
